The Tower of Power: A Golden Phallus

Opposite the vast building complex in the heart of Frankfurt, where the annual International Book Fair is being held, stands one of Europe's highest buildings: Der Messe Turm (The Fair Tower). Of course, this in itself can be no reason for the tower to appear here in Reality Alley, but there is something that does make this specific skyscraper more remarkable than others.

More so than most tall buildings are, according to Sigmund Freud, this one certainly is - by its intrinsic design - a giant phallus.

The impressive building - an extraordinary expensive, elegant and sophisticated one - is the symbol par excellence of a society that is mainly based on male, on patriarchal, values - values that make the display of power and strength a necessity. Although the tower itself is not of gold but of steel, glass, aluminum, granite and neon, it does harbor many of the most exclusive companies and corporations that deal in money, gold, and power.

Here some tenants of this exclusive establishment:

  • Deutsche Bundesbank
  • Korea Commercial Bank
  • Bank of Korea
  • Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey
  • Cho Hung Bank
  • Asahi Bank
  • Government of Singapore Investment Corporation
  • Wako Securities Ltd.
  • and some others without nameplates on their door.
The architectural bureau that supervised the building of this patriarchal symbol (Murphy/Jahn Inc. of Chicago) did not just insert a beautiful and modern tower into the heart and vital center of Frankfurt.

NO! They seem to have done a lot of specialized thinking before creating it!

The building consists of 63 stories (hexagram 63 in the I Ching means "after the completion") plus a pyramid on the top (= 64); and each floor also has 64 workplaces (hexagram 64: "before the completion").
The pyramid (Greek for fire in the middle) on top of the building is not only a modern design penile glans, but here also some esoteric knowledge seems to have been applied: in classical Greek, phallos and pyramid are numerological synonyms: both words add up, according to Greek gematria, to the number 831.
And when you look at the placing of the 20 fast elevators of the tower (right illustration), a comparison with the urine- and seed-tubes in a phallus of flesh and blood becomes hard to avoid.

This obvious and clearly male character of the building comes even more to expression in the tower's public brochure where we can read that of the 912 parking lots in the cellar, some have been reserved specifically "for women - and the disabled".

To end with, here some more specifications on this Tower of Power, owned by the Tishman Speyer GmbH & Co Messe Turm KG:
